When Asthma Hid Behind Silence: a hard nut to crack open.

DR. SUJIT ALWAYS SAYS THERE IS NO HARD AND FAST RULE IN HOMOEOPATHY

Some cases speak on day one.
Some cases speak only when trust forms.
And a few cases like this one open up slowly, after careful listening, questioning, and patience.

He always emphasizes learning through observation.

This is the story of a 55-year-old woman we saw at Helios Homoeopathy, under the guidance of Dr Sujit Telagamsetty, whose case of asthma was challenging to unravel.

The First Visit: A Case That Gave Almost Nothing in the First Visit.

She came with her son, who has been taking homoeopathic treatment at Helios for 2 months for his gastric complaints and is doing absolutely well now and wants his mother to get better with her asthma through Dr Sujit.
She used to suffer from frequent coryza and sneezing earlier, but she was good with conventional treatment. But 2 years ago, she was diagnosed with asthma. Since then, her attacks have become more frequent, and her suffering has increased.
This was her first visit.

Now, it was clear she was a difficult case to crack open.

Her complaints were general, brief, and guarded:

  • Breathlessness on exertion
  • Night wheezing
  • Chest tightness
  • Dry cough
  • Worse in cold temperatures

Everything was textbook.
Nothing was individualistic in nature.

Her expression was composed, controlled, and she barely made any point.
Even when we probed gently, she kept her answers short.

Dr Sujit noted quietly:

“She is giving us the symptoms of asthma, not the patient.”

Dr Sujit prescribed based on the limited information, and as an assistant doctor, I was in doubt how she could do better with medicine, which came out of very few symptoms, but Dr Sujit patiently explained what the medicine does to her and not every case is the same, and try understanding the patient. After talking and taking the case, one thing was sure: she was battling with emotional turmoil that she was unable to let out, making her feel suffocated. The medicine will help her open up. looking, we can tell she is battling with some emotional turmoil was waiting for the picture to open in the upcoming follow-up.

First Follow-Up: Physical Improvement, Emotional Silence

She came back with mild improvement:

  • Breathing got better
  • Wheezing at night was still present
  • Chest discomfort is still the same

But the emotional layer remained sealed.
She remained silent. This was a case that had more behind the curtain, but the curtain hadn’t moved.

Second Follow-Up: The Turning Point

During the second follow-up, she appeared a little relaxed, and her son did not accompany her; she came alone.
Her symptoms are more or less the same, but the cause is still unclear.

So, we gently explored deeper.

I asked while taking her follow-up

Did anything happen from which you were hurt or disturbed you and made you feel bad?

At first, she said, “Nothing…

But after questioning for a while about —patiently, gently, without pressure—
her face softened, her voice cracked slightly.

And finally, she revealed:

“I had one sibling, my only brother. The only person I had from my own family after my parents’ death. He died 2 years ago with a heart attack. I couldn’t take my brother’s death; he was my only blood relation left. My kids don’t want me to be sad or cry about him
I didn’t speak about it to anyone.

That one sentence unlocked the entire case.

This was the missing link:

  • A major emotional trauma
  • Suppressed grief

Symptoms worsen when emotional or remembering him

Her chest symptoms were not just physical—they were grief embedded in the respiratory system.

Under Dr Sujit’s supervision, a deep-acting constitutional remedy was selected to address the inner grief, not just the lungs.

The Outcome:

Over the next few weeks:

  • Her wheezing reduced dramatically
  • Breathlessness eased
  • Sleep improved
  • Emotional heaviness began to lift
  • She smiled for the first time during the consultation
  • And she said something unforgettable:

“I feel like I can breathe fully after many years.”

The breath improved because the story hid behind finally came to light.

This case reminds us that there is no such designated formula in homoeopathy; it is always the physician who guides the case with his beautiful insights.

At Helios Homoeopathy, under the guidance of Dr Sujit Telagamsetty,
we don’t just treat symptoms
we understand the patient behind them.
